I knew this day would come and now it has!

Violin player extraordinaire Ann Marie Calhoun made a highly anticipated guest appearance with Widespread Panic tonight (April 26th, 2008) at the Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh, NC.

As attractive as she is talented, Ann Marie sat in on fiddle for a Driving Song > Surprise Valley > Heaven medley during the 2nd set as well as Fishwater to close the show.

UPDATE (July 4, 2008): They've done it again... Ann Marie Calhoun sat in with Widespread Panic at the ROTHBURY festival last night!

You can now download the Widespread Calhoun show at DigitalPanic thanks to taper extraordinaire Charles Fox and his FOB Schoeps rig.

I think you’ll appreciate the bump in sound quality as compared to the YouTube clip.

You can also stream the Widespread Calhoun show at the incredibly comprehensive PanicStream.com — the latest addition to our live music streams page.

When I heard Anne Calhoun on Drivin my hair stood up. It really has that old school sit and ski vibe to it. And a little cutie to boot. I hope this is not her last appearance w/ the boys. Mad props young lady and very well played!!

Benton, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Hopefully others who were at the show will do the same.

From the videos it looks like the audience, band, and Ann Marie alike all had a blast!

Ann Marie brought the house down! Period! Everyone I’ve talked with said she was nothing but smokin’ - musically and otherwise. Hey guys, bring her back more often!!!

Ann Marie Calhoun; we salute you. Wow is all I can say, unbelievable energy in Raleigh on Saturday night. World renowned fiddle player sitting in on five classics with the boys. Bravo!!

Lovely! I’ve never seen the fiddle played with such passion before — or in such a pretty dress.

is she the hot fiddle chick or the hot violin chick ?

Thanks for picking up the video here!

Hopefully this isn’t Anne Marie’s only appearance on the Panic stage, she had that place in a frenzy!

I wish that I had been up front for the Driving>Surprise>Heaven>Driving, but getting up there for the Fishwater and to be able to capture that 60 seconds of Anne Marie shredding that fiddle and to get the expressions on JB’s and Jimmy’s faces was priceless!

Another great weekend in Raleigh! (they never disappoint @ The Creek).

@confused… Re: is she the hot fiddle chick or the hot violin chick?

I think you’d probably be right either way. According to Wikipedia, they’re essentially just two names for the same thing…

Got 9th row tix and was completely blown way by this show. My first ever Panic show and to get a concert where, as my hardcore Panic friend Brion said, “they’re lighting it up tonight,” in addition to Anne Marie lighting it up herself on violin was truly spectacular.

I’m a panic fan now; as much for the intensity of the music as for the true musical honesty between Calhoun and Herring (what a wonderful generation connection through music!). Panic puts on a show that I, as a long time Phish and Dead fan, have never seen before except on some rare Phish occasions. One spectacular, climactic jam after the other.

Quite a special show and one I’m glad to have attended. Yes, it’s four chord jamming for the most part, but its four-chord jamming done to a level that very few other bands, if any, have ever reached. Well done.

wow!!! She rocked the Panic show on 4.26.08!!! It was amazing, I still can not get over what a incredable job she did! The crowd was loving it, and so was I!

She’s much hotter than Blackmun. Great stuff. I hope she makes it up north soon.

welcome to the party simon. you home again.

We loved that she jammed on THEIR songs, which is not so usual for guests at rock concerts. Usually, some songs that are common ground covers are played and then maybe one of the band’s songs, but Ann Marie blended right in like she was another member of the band. Very impressive. Halfway through this show, my husband turned to me and said he’d found his new favorite band. (I’m an old Phish follower, but have always seen a lot of WSP shows and he and I met through seeing Umphrey’s McGee). We just love love love the song writing and Jimmy Herring is just what the dr. ordered for these guys. What an AWESOME show. Order it, you won’t be able to get enough. (And order the previous night, too.)

Just got a text from a friend that Ann Marie Calhoun is sitting in with Widespread Panic at ROTHBURY right now! Will post videos as soon as I find them. Stay tuned.
