Franklin's Tower

Date

Venue
Radio City Music Hall

Location
New York, NY

Here's a real nice example of Franklin's Tower from the Grateful Dead's 1980 Halloween show at Radio City Music Hall.

Great sound quality, and even better videography on this one. From intimate shots of Jerry singing and playing to a few gems of the whole band packed into one frame.

You can get the pre-FM soundboard in streaming format on archive.org.

Bonus Video: Al Franken interviews Brent Mydland

Watch as Brent tries to figure out St. Stephen while getting razzed by Al Franken during the setbreak.

Hat tip to splaif for the video.

Reba

Date
Mon, October 31, 1994

Venue
Glens Falls Civic Center

Location
Glens Falls, NY

Though I personally prefer 12/31/95, this Reba from Phish's seminal 1994 Halloween performance at the Glens Falls Civic Center in New York, is considered by some to be the best ever.

Presented here is 9 and half minutes of jamming that follows the verses. And at the suggestion of one YouTube reviewer I must warn you, "after viewing this video you may not have a face!" For my money the last three minutes are where it's at.

Visit the HPB for a detailed review of the entire Reba posted on Phish.net by Tim Wade.

Live Phish Halloween 94 CoverYou can find this Reba, a lot more Phish songs, as well as Phish's cover of The Beatles' White Album on the Live Phish Vol. 13 CD.

Thanks to prinado for sharing the video.

UPDATE: I've decided to run a little contest and the winner gets an all-free set of Coventry postcards. Just post a comment below about your favorite Reba. One commenter will be randomly selected for the postcard set. Be sure to include your email address on the comment form so I can get in touch with you if you win.
