Moments ago the official lineup for the 2010 ACL Music Festival went up and as expected the headliners include two nostalgia acts, Phish and the Eagles, as well as Muse.
Additional headliners for the 3-day festival — to be held Oct. 8-10, at Zilker Park — include the Strokes, M.I.A, and the Flaming Lips. And other notable names among the 130 acts include LCD Soundsystem, Spoon, Vampire Weekend, Norah Jones, Robert Randolph, and the Black Keys.
According to the official site, Phish will headline on opening night, Friday, October 8th, followed by Muse on Saturday and the Eagles on Sunday.

This week is Rolling Stones Week on Jimmy Fallon, and all week long the show is celebrating the May 18 re-release of the classic Stones album “Exile on Main Street.”
Each night a different performer will cover a song from the album (and hopefully a few surprises), followed by a special episode Friday featuring the debut of the new documentary “Stones in Exile” (see trailer above).
The festivities kicked off Monday night when Green Day opened with Rip This Joint (video), and later Taj Mahal performed a soulful Shine a Lite with The Roots (video).
I'll add videos of the rest of the tunes as they happen including Keith Urban doing Tumbling Dice (video), Sheryl Crow with All Down The Line (video), and Phish playing Loving Cup (video).
Update: May 13, 2010: Last night Mick Jagger and Keith Richards helped Jimmy with the “Pros & Cons” of Exile on Main Street. (video)

I was greatly saddened to learn of the death of legendary concert photographer Jim Marshall this week, who was found dead in a New York hotel room on March 24th at age 74.
Marshall's typically black & white documentary-style photos are some of the most iconic images in rock and roll; his exceptional eye managed to catch some of music's biggest names in the most intimate situations.
Whenever anyone asks me how I got the photographs I did, why I was often the only photographer present or got such unique access I reply simply, ‘Trust.’

Much has already been written about Marshall's death (see here, here, here, and here), so I'll just leave you with a gallery of some of my favorite Jim Marshall photos. They say a picture's worth a thousand words, but I think some of these are worth well more than that.
Rest in peace Jim. Your legacy in photos will live forever.

Welcome to Vol. 7 of Face-Melting Kids, our semi-regular series on child prodigies who rock.
Well he's not a kid any more, but Derek Trucks was just 13 years old and opening for the Allman Brothers Band when this video was shot.
Now I'm no guitar expert, but I'm pretty sure he rips his SG a new one as he covers Layla then opens it up for a really nice jam here at Walnut Creek on July 4, 1993.
Happy to say he's still melting faces today, with a full Summer of appearances including a just-announced spot on the opening night lineup for this year's All Good Music Festival July 8-11 in West Virgina.

With the excitement of the Phish Telluride approval behind them and just one day after performing two Genesis covers at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, today Phish announced a massive 29 show Summer Tour that covers 18 different venues including some of Phish's old stomping grounds and couple of new ones.
Although most of the dates were eventually leaked in various forums and blogs, for the most part the band managed to keep fans guessing with round after round of rumors. The real dates were announced via a custom animation video featuring a synchronized swimming team and a cameo by Henrietta.
The 18 show early Summer leg finds Phish at 13 venues in the Midwest, East Coast, and South East including Blossom Music Center (141 show gap), Hersheypark Stadium (143 shows), nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Portsmouth, VA (first-time), Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center (551 shows) and Walnut Creek (90 shows). The leg culminates on July 3rd & 4th at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta, GA (first-time).
The 11 show late Summer leg goes from coast-to-coast at 5 different venues — starting off at the Greek Theatre in Berkely (696 shows) and ending at Jones Beach. This leg also includes two nights at the afore mentioned Telluride Town Park as well as Deer Creek and Alpine Valley.
