It's official! Phish 3D: The Movie is set to be released in April, and as of moments ago there's an official site, Facebook page, and Twitter account to support the theatrical release.
The 3D Phish movie has been rumored since the run-up to Festival 8, and early last month a page appeared on Ticketmaster for the cryptically titled “Phish Concert Film.”
The concert film will feature footage by AEG Live and Action 3D that was shot during all eight sets of Festival 8 in Indio. Beggars can't be choosers, but I'm really hoping the pyro-infused Mike's Song didn't end up on the cutting room floor as I'd certainly love to see that in 3D.
Very cool technology… Ridic.

According to Consequence of Sound, the band will begin to tease Phish 3D: The Movie with a 15-second trailer at Alice in Wonderland 3D screenings this weekend. Expect a longer trailer to be released next month.
If you hit the official site you can enter your email and ZIP to get notified when tickets go on sale.
Consider me in line already!
Update: Phish 3D Bloomberg Release (March 6, 2010 @ 12:01 am CT)
Per this Bloomberg release there were 3,659 screens in the U.S. and Canada equipped with 3-D projectors as of Jan. 5 and Phish / Action 3D / AEG Live will be using technology from Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. to digitally transmit and project the movie.
Update: Under-the-Hood of the Official Site(March 6, 2010 @ 10:35 am CT)
The source code of the phish3dmovie website leads me to believe it was developed in partnership with the aforementioned Cinedigm (which is a tad curious) by a group called New Reach Consulting who appear to have a pretty solid music industry background.
NOTE: For the tech dorks out there, and perhaps more curiously, if you view the site with the Firebug "Net" tab open you'll see some strange "Flexispot" JavaScript / Flash tracker thing that as best I can tell is attempting to determine if you've previously visited a whole slew of other sites. (e.g. Bonnaroo, Jazzfest, Last.fm, etc). I have no familiarity with this but my assumption is that they'll be running ads for the movie on some of those sites and this script will allow them to account for “view through” conversions (i.e. you saw an ad, didn't click, but later went to site anyway). This is of course pure speculation so hopefully someone from New Reach will see this and chime in with an explanation.
Update: 3/9/2010 The artifacts mentioned above have been removed from the site.
Update: Theater Locator (March 6, 2010 @ 8:30 pm CT)
Assuming this is showing at the same spots as the DMB 3D movie, here's a theater locator so you can see if it'll be anywhere near you. The closest theatre for me is just 3.4 miles away. Fine.
Update April 13, 2009: Here's the official Phish 3D Theatre Locator.
Update: Red / Blue 3D Image by Darren Cokin (March 8, 2010 @ 12:50 pm CT)
Just found this cool 3D Phish photo that fan Darren Cokin posted to the Phish 3D FB page. Throw on some red/blue glasses and click the thumbnail for the full version.
Update: Phish 3D Announced on Phish.com (March 9, 2010 @ 3:00 pm CT)
Okay, now it's officially official, as the movie has been announced on the Phish.com News page.
Is it April yet?
Update: Phish 3D in Theatres April 30th, Preview on April 20th (March 25, 2010 @ 10:00 am CT)
Mark your calendars: Phish 3D is opening nationwide on Friday, April 30th for an exclusive (and very short) one week run.
Fan favorites, never before seen cover songs, and intimate footage of the band backstage and in rehearsals.
Be sure hit the bathroom and stock up on popcorn before it starts because the movie is just over two hours long and if the trailer is any indication you won't want to miss any of it.
