Phish Reunites at Brad Sands Wedding!

Posted Sat, September 06, 2008 at 9:47 pm by Todd Levy
Mariel and Brad Sands

Developing story here… I've just received word that there was a full Phish reunion at the wedding of Brad Sands and Mariel Speier tonight, at Midtown Loft and Terrace in New York City.

It sucked compared to SCI's future reunion.*
― Michael Kang

The foursome reunited for three songs — Julius, Suzy Greenberg, and Waste — just 1,483 days since they called it quits at Coventry.

Brad Sands is the band's longtime road manager, forever immortalized in Bittersweet Motel when why Trey tells him, “kiss my ass you fuckin' tool.” And hey, there's still a few things on Mariel and Brad's wedding registry so if you're feeling generous, you know what to do.

More info / pics / videos as soon as possible.

* Just kidding. Props to andyctree for this joke.

Mike Gordon: Pretty Sure Phish Reunion Will Happen

Posted Fri, August 22, 2008 at 12:01 pm by Todd Levy

Watch at left as Mike once again bangs on the Phish reunion drum when he talks to Jack Thurston of Vermont's WCAX about the prospects of, and timeframe for, said reunion in this recent news segment entitled “A Reunion for Phish?”

Please note: There is a commercial that runs before the segment starts. Sorry, but there's no way to skip it.

Four years ago, I didn't think it would happen but now I am pretty sure it will.

In my opinion the Phish thing is pretty likely at this point, because people are so healthy and enthusiastic about it among the band members. The vibe is really good.

The vibe is really good.

Yes, good vibes indeed!

Welcome back for Vol. 3 of “Backstage Jams.”

In case you missed the past volumes, Vol. 2 found Jerry Garcia backstage playing Crazy Fingers while Vol. 1 featured Pete Townshend backstage doing a two song mini-set.

Today's Backstage Jam features yet another legend, Jimi Hendrix, doing a solo acoustic version of Hound Dog backstage at Royal Albert Hall on February 18, 1969.

She's thirsty. Get her some acid.
Overheard in this video

Like most backstage jam videos, this one leaves you wanting more. But the good news is that in this video, the jam is followed up by an incredible Foxy Lady so you can take care of your jones right away.

And if you still need more Hendrix after that, you can always find plenty of Jimi Hendrix concert DVDs with the Jamtopia Concert DVD Finder.

Many thanks to buckelastard for posting this on YouTube.

High Def Concert Videos: Now Playing on Jamtopia

Posted Thu, August 14, 2008 at 9:28 am by Todd Levy

Those of you who frequent YouTube may have noticed that many of your favorite concert videos feature a small link below them that reads “watch in high quality.”

Well yesterday I made a small change in the way videos are being embedded so that now, wherever possible, Jamtopia's concert videos will be presented in high quality.

The difference is subtle at this small size, but you can compare the quality below…

Standard Quality

Sorry. You need to Flash to watch this movie.

It's the same Jamtopia you know and love, just a little more face-melting than before.

Trey Anastasio and Classic TAB at All Points West

All Points West Festival Logo

Hot on the heels of the first (and very well received) Trey Anstasio & Classic TAB show in Brooklyn, the band was back together again on Sunday for one set at the first All Points West Music & Arts Festival at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ.

As expected, the show didn't match the energy or intimacy of Classic TAB's warm-up show in Brooklyn, but Trey still managed to deliver some “dirty wah” and “nasty solos” at the APW Fest according to the fine folks @glidemag.

An all killer no filler affair where the band didn’t take many chances, but allowed Trey to rip some incredibly fast and melodic solos.

Scroll down to see the setlist from Trey Anastasio & Classic TAB All Points West Festival, watch videos, and read reviews, but don't expect too many surprises. The set was 100% repeats from Brooklyn.

P.S. Sorry for the boring headline. It was really all I could muster. If you have better ideas, drop a comment.

Update (11:49 PM): Word is that Trey sat in with Jack Johnson on Mudfootball. More details as they come.

Update (August 14, 2008): I've just added a bunch of pictures of Trey at All Points West thanks to Matt Simpson of WNEW FM in New York.
